For those of us who don’t live near a local store that sells items like the figurines we so want to collect, we have to depend on online stores. Another respected store has now added an English portal to make shopping that much easier.

Japan Probe posted an interesting entry today titled “Otaku Rooms”. NTV apparently did a story on the popularity of anime in the United States. They visit the home of an Otaku to see his 30 years worth of collection.
Also in the story they cover some Americans learning manga drawing techniques. The otaku house was interesting… I wonder if he is in Otacool

Naruto to premier on Disney XD tonight!

When I first heard that Disney would be adding this it kinda threw me for a loop. Here I am being someone used to the Mickey and other characters as well as the regular movies they produced. And now there is this high action Anime showing?? Disney XD is turning out to be interesting…. I wonder what they have planned next.
Don’t think my kids will be watching it soon though, I think the show is a bit out of their age range.

So, that posses the question (actually a couple), what character will be next??? Mugi, Azu-nyan? I spotted this comment on Mikatans blog through the aid of Google translation service…

Could that mean that Azu-nyan is in the works??? The poisoning continues…
While I have not seen much of this series, Strike Witches seems to be a fun / cute series. It is due to be released in the US by Funimation. In the mean-time, Kotobukiya has released this nice looking 1/8 scale figurine of Lynette Bishop.
I don’t think I’ll be adding this to my collection but the poison exisits none-the-less.

You have to love foreign commercials. This commercial for Yamato Transport is great for a chuckle and a smile. It gets the point across well so a translation is not really needed.
Yamato Transport is one of the largest door-to-door delivery companies in Japan.
Browsing some links this morning, I came accross this story on the BBC website. Japan is what I would call a tech crazy country. So much so that we here in the US seem to be lagging pretty far behind in some ways. (Cell phone features and speed of Internet access come to mind).
I have on my wish list to visit there someday, in particular Akihabara and Shibuya. Since I also enjoy taking pictures though, I will really have to plan on visiting longer than just one week. My dream trip would be to NOT take the tourist trap tour but to actually meet somebody that lives there with similar interests. I suspect that a tour by someone not stuck to a planned path would be much more entertaining. For example, hidden shops to satisfy Otakuism or better restaurants with more authentic cooking (aka, not toned down for “wimpy” American taste buds)
In researching for this blog entry, I came across that Tokyo has 23 wards (another link) of which Akihabara and Shibuya are parts of. Looks like if I am going to plan a trip there, I better start soon. 
Something tells me there is LOTS to see.
