French postal company, Le Poste advertisement for sending mail via their website. Kinda wonder how long it took to create this animation…

Another of their creative marketing schemes shows how you can create your own personalized postage stamps…

Can you imagine the variety of stamps here in the US if that were allowed. Hmm, hey USPS, what say you? You could allow that and tag the stamps with a 2D bar-code to make them official…

Next up, a real cutie. Snow Miku Hatsune. This is a special edition created as a replica of the sculpture to be erected at the  Sapporo Snow Festival. Note the transparent ends of her hair and the snowflakes throughout… Retail 3,000 ¥.

We pause now as a ogle over this next figure… Another version of Saber from the series Fate / Stay Night. Ok, I admit it, I’m a Saber fan. This may look familiar to a previous version because it is. Some of her armaments has been removed and facial detail changed. I like the detail on the scabbard and the base. Retail 9,000 ¥.

And lastly for now, MORE poison.  This time in the form of both Mio and Ritsu in Nendoroid form performing for you on an included di:stage. Retail at 8,000 ¥.

Each of these figures are due to be release in February of this year. Talk about short notice… I will probably have to pass on these as I am still expecting figures I ordered last year. If I can, I would have to choose Ui and Miku out of this batch. I don’t have any Miku in my collection but this Snow version is just to cute.

2009 a look back on loot

2009, one heck of a year. I hope all of you faired well and that 2010 proves to be an even better year than the last. For me, 2009 was a year of firsts… I got really into anime as I discovered new sources I never knew existed. Set my sites on attending some conventions and hope one year to make it to Japan for a convention. Also, this past year I discovered (much to my wallets regret) collecting . Thank you to all that contributed to the poisoning of my mind. I appreciate it!

So, what did I collect this year? (In no particular order)

  1. Drossel – just looks awesome, is awesome. One of my favorites thus far in my collection. I wish Disney would show here in the States but the dialog would probably get lost in translation.
  2. Yui – from Lets face it, she’s kinda cute and gets into all sorts of antics. My daughter fell in love with her character on so I ended up getting the Mobip .
  3. Mio, Ritsu and Mugi – Not wanting to split the group up, I had to get Mio, Ritsu and Mugi as well in Mobip form.
  4. Horo – My first exposure to was when I heard the closing song for the first season, “The Wolf Whistling Song” by Ringo Hiyori. I was listening to Radio Kawaii on WinAmp when I first heard the tune and had to know what the anime was about. I ended up with 2 figurines of Horo. One from Season One and another as she appears in the Manga.
  5. Rin, Kuro – The next 2 are kind of an odd selection. I had seen one of them in photos taken in all sorts of outdoor / indoor arrangements and just thought it was cute. My first figurine collected, ever, Rin Kokonoe. Since I don’t like splitting up sets, I also picked up Kuro Kagami, my last figurine of 2009.
  6. Sakura – Lastly on my 2009 list is Sakura Matō from the series Fate / Stay Night. I picked this character for the attention to detail that went into it (that and the price was good too).

Here are a few photos….

Whew…  So, what am I expecting in 2010… Here is my list today…

*Azusa was only just announced at Comiket 77 but I have added her to my list as a must.

2010 will be a little painful to start and I will also need to find room to store these as well. I hope to start photographing some of my collection soon and post them to this site. What is on your purchase list for 2010? Anything exciting?

This post was influenced by Zenical sharing her collection of goodies over on zotaku.com.

She is reservable now at Hobby Search. Expected release date is around late May of 2010. Retail price, 7,500 Yen.

She probably one of my favorite characters in CLANNAD. Fun seeing an unassuming character that can kick some tail when need be.

Catching up on my viewing list

Since I had the day off today, I did some browsing and catching up on my viewing list. Didn’t really get caught up on my list though because I stumbled on a series that I was not aware of, Ride Back. I don’t know how it slipped past my radar but I thought it was pretty good for action and story. This series started airing on January 11, 2009 and is 12 episodes long.

The story is about a ballerina who suffers an injury during a performance. She soon discovers a new passion, Ride Back. A Ride Back is a combination motorcycle and robot that allows its rider to perform some pretty radical riding stunts. Being a former ballerina, the main character, Rin, adapts to the Ride Back better than expected by those in the school club.

She eventually becomes entangled in issues between the government anti-terrorist group and a terrorist cell opposed to the new government by simply rescuing her friend from a hostage situation. From then on she is perused by both sides as a terrorist and as one with great Ride Back skill.

Don’t ask me how I stumbled on this one but this is cool. The old adage about “if you have to ask then you probably can’t afford it” mind… Robotics have always fascinated me. Aibo, Asimo, QRIO etc. What do you think of NAO? I wouldn’t mind being a beta tester for NAO. Looks fun!

I have a simpler version of this Taiko drumming game on my PS2 and its pretty fun. (Granted its been a while since I have had a chance to play… I came across this video and thought I’d share it. This guy does pretty good if I say so myself… especially considering he is blindfolded. Enjoy…
