I seriously feel like I am way behind on the times. Especially when I finally pick up a copy of The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi and it is in the Anime Classics collection. This is a cool series and I don’t know why I thought I should avoid it.
Haruhi sure is a character full of life. Always looking to find Espers, Aliens or time travelers. Little does she know that her club (the SOS Brigade) consists of just that and her reluctant friend from class. It’s a daily adventure to keep her from becoming angry or to bored lest the world as we know it gets destroyed by her imagination. Apparently Haruhi has an ability to recreate the world on a whim and is not aware of it. This is a series I recommend checking out.

Agreed, it is a series any fan of anime should at least check out. It has a good well rounded cast of characters, the story is very interesting (kinda jumpy though), and the animation quality is top-notch.
I had no idea it was already a “classic” though…but I guess it IS a few years old now.
