Can one be in the closet about their figurine collection?

I’m sitting here staring at my blog as well as reading other blogs this evening. I’m pretty hooked on , Manga and . I have found the Internet to be a dangerous things when it comes to locating awesome, cool and kawaii things related to Anime. Of course, I would have to get more addicted to perhaps the more costly of items, figurines. I’ve looked at other and there are a few I would not mind having. Most of the time I forget about them till its to late.

So I’m sitting here thinking that I don’t really let people I work with know much about my collection of figurines. Maybe one or two but that is about it. I may sneak a small one into the office some time to show off but usually that does not happen. I think if people knew the extent of my collection, they might think me strange. No, I by no means have a collection numbering in the hundreds. Don’t have the funds for that or the space.

K-On! Nendoroid Collection

K-On! Nendoroid Collection

What prompted my thoughts on this was my recent delivery of Asuka and Black Rock Shooter. I have yet to unbox them as I have not figured where to store them. I have a corner that is now practically stacked to the ceiling with the boxes. (I should inventory that pile someday) I also have a list that I keep updating with names of the figures that I want to add to the collection. I check the figures online frequently in the hopes that the reservations are not closed before I decide I have enough funds to buy them. It’s a good thing that I have not ventured into collecting Dolfies. I’d have to explain to the kids, sorry, Saber was calling me to rescue her from the store overseas. We’ll eat next month.

I would think it awesome if I met another like myself at work so we can trade stories and perhaps collectibles. I hear rumors of one or two around so who knows. I’m happy I get very little ribbing about my . I enjoy watching the occasional episode during lunch at my desk. Maybe I should pull out an episode or two of Yosuga no Sora?

Well, I guess for now, I’ll remain in the closet for the most part regarding my figurine collection. Sorry girls, I’ll introduce you to the guys at work another day.

To accompany Yuri, Good Smile Company has also released an edition of Tenshi, also known as the Angel on Angel Beats! This stunning figure captures Tenshi with her wings (which are removable) unfurled smiling. This and the Yuri figure are two I think I will have to add to my collection. I don’t feel I could order one without the other…

Morishima sempai is waiting for you… Waiting for you to place a so she can come to your house sometime around April. She knows you’ve been watching Amagami SS and has put on a swimsuit just for you.

This new figure by Max Factory features the sometimes flighty Morishima Haruka from the Manga and , . She has been sculpted wearing a school swimsuit smiling back at who ever may be looking at her. Her character was one of my favorites in the series, especially her stunning blue eyes. The figure does not have the same bright blue eyes but they are blue.

This figure is available for reservation now at Hobby Search, retail is about ¥6,800.

Tron Legacy, worth the 2 hours

Just came back from watching Legacy and I for one was very pleased. If you had seen the original when it came out in theaters 20+ years ago you know it was pretty revolutionary for the used at the time. I watched the original with my kids a month or so back and they were none to excited about the graphics. And I couldn’t blame them what with other movies such as Shrek and Monsters Inc. that have come out since. Myself, I can recall being wow’d while sitting in the theater at the light cycles and the recognizers and tanks.

Well tonight, I was wow’d again. This time it was how well the story was put together. I went in thinking, this will be an all eye and ear candy movie. I was wrong. The 2 hours was spent telling the story of how the digital world came to be and how Flynn disappeared. Sorry, I don’t want to spoil the story to much. I will say that if you can see it in IMAX 3D, do so. It is especially cool if you have a theater that does not skimp on the volume. I was very pleased to actually feel the Recognizers as they flew past.

I was a bit disappointed in the turnout though. I’m not sure it was because it is Christmas Eve or just lack of interest in the movie. I know there have been comments posted to the effect of “why do we need another Tron movie”. Well, if you are going to say something stinks before seeing it, ya might keep your comments to yourself until after you have laid down your money. Walt said of the Fantasia film that it is one to be improved on time and again (hence Fantasia 2000). I think the same can be said of others of their film franchises. Return to Witch mountain was a good remake example. I enjoyed the show enough to want to go back. I only hope it is still in IMAX when I can go. I’m also looking forward to a BluRay release for the sole purpose of rattling the pictures off the wall.

If you have seen it, I’d like to hear your opinions too.

Quick post. Is anyone planning to see Lagacy when it comes out Friday? It has been over 20 years since the original release and I for one am eager to see what has happened in Flynn’s world. Couple that with big advances in making since then. When the original Tron was released it was ahead of it’s time. I wonder if this will follow suit in making techniques.
I saw Tangled the other day and it was an enjoyable movie. The 3d effects are getting better with each movie it seams. In the previews, has a new movie coming next year called “Mars needs moms”. Looks cute, but what caught my attention was the different angle at which some of the action was rendered. For 3d you might expect head on or to the side. In this case it was below so items seem to fall down toward you.
Exciting stuff to see it seems. If you see Tron, post and let me know what you thought. I’ll do the same.

Instead of putting together a complete list of shows being shown this season, I thought I would take a different approach. With somewhere around 30 shows out this season, a person is sure to find something they at least kinda like to see. This list is derived from a couple of sources and they should be given full credit for researching the show names and start dates. Thanks to Chartfag and to The Cart Driver for your excellent guides. (see below)

The list is presented in alphabetical order. Not all titles are linked, only those I was able to locate at the time of posting.  If you have questions or suggestions, please feel free to post a comment.

Seems time has no been on my side lately for keeping up my postings here. Nonetheless I am still actively watching some pretty darn good shows. Somedays I stay up to late watching them. Here are a few I have been enjoying lately:

X’ampd
Tytania
Shigofumi
Bamboo Blade
Tsubasa
Asumanga Daiho
Kimi Kiss
Amagami

There are a number of others that I have been conflicted as to whether to start watching. There are a few others not listed here too whose name spelling slips my mind. (posting from my phone)

I’m curious what shows others are watching. Be it current or even older shows. What are your favorites from past seasons this year? Hard to believe winter season is kicking off and I have yet to finish watching the spring / summer shows. So many shows, so little time.
