Tron Legacy, worth the 2 hours

Just came back from watching and I for one was very pleased. If you had seen the original when it came out in theaters 20+ years ago you know it was pretty revolutionary for the used at the time. I watched the original with my kids a month or so back and they were none to excited about the graphics. And I couldn’t blame them what with other movies such as Shrek and Monsters Inc. that have come out since. Myself, I can recall being wow’d while sitting in the theater at the light cycles and the recognizers and tanks.

Well tonight, I was wow’d again. This time it was how well the story was put together. I went in thinking, this will be an all eye and ear candy movie. I was wrong. The 2 hours was spent telling the story of how the digital world came to be and how Flynn disappeared. Sorry, I don’t want to spoil the story to much. I will say that if you can see it in IMAX 3D, do so. It is especially cool if you have a theater that does not skimp on the volume. I was very pleased to actually feel the Recognizers as they flew past.

I was a bit disappointed in the turnout though. I’m not sure it was because it is Christmas Eve or just lack of interest in the movie. I know there have been comments posted to the effect of “why do we need another movie”. Well, if you are going to say something stinks before seeing it, ya might keep your comments to yourself until after you have laid down your money. said of the Fantasia film that it is one to be improved on time and again (hence Fantasia 2000). I think the same can be said of others of their film franchises. Return to Witch mountain was a good remake example. I enjoyed the show enough to want to go back. I only hope it is still in IMAX when I can go. I’m also looking forward to a BluRay release for the sole purpose of rattling the pictures off the wall.

If you have seen it, I’d like to hear your opinions too.

Quick post. Is anyone planning to see Lagacy when it comes out Friday? It has been over 20 years since the original release and I for one am eager to see what has happened in Flynn’s world. Couple that with big advances in making since then. When the original was released it was ahead of it’s time. I wonder if this will follow suit in movie making techniques.
I saw Tangled the other day and it was an enjoyable movie. The 3d effects are getting better with each movie it seams. In the previews, has a new movie coming next year called “Mars needs moms”. Looks cute, but what caught my attention was the different angle at which some of the action was rendered. For 3d you might expect head on or to the side. In this case it was below so items seem to fall down toward you.
Exciting stuff to see it seems. If you see Tron, post and let me know what you thought. I’ll do the same.

to premier on XD tonight!naruto_logo

From ANN

When I first heard that Disney would be adding this it kinda threw me for a loop. Here I am being someone used to the Mickey and other characters as well as the regular movies they produced. And now there is this high action showing?? Disney XD is turning out to be interesting…. I wonder what they have planned next.

Don’t think my kids will be watching it soon though, I think the show is a bit out of their age range.
