I’ve been a fan of Dr. Who for quite a number of years. I’ve watched episodes from the original Doctor (William Hartnell) up

through the current incarnation. Tom Baker was probably one of my favorites, though I have not seen enough of the more recent shows to decide about the recent actors. I was presently surprised when I came across this article on ANN. A fan of Dr. Who has created his own version of the show of how he feels an animated version should be done.

“32-year-old Paul “OtaKing” Johnson, a professional translator in Sheffield, England (who bears no relation to Toshio Okada, the “OtaKing” who co-founded Gainax), released a video on YouTube in February 2009 called “Making a proper Doctor Who  .” The 4-minute video depicts a fight scene evolving from rough drawings into a fully detailed, inked, colored, and dubbed animation, created entirely by Johnson himself.”

Here are some of the You Tube videos for your enjoyment. I like how the voice of the Japanese voice actress comes across. Don’t think I’d want to make her mad.

What do you think? I’m not a fan of the animation style but I do like what I am seeing.

At least that is probably what some people might think. A 22-year-old South Korean girl, Kim Yeo-hee, landed a record deal recently by posting a home made video of her singing a Lady GaGa song. What makes it even more unique is that she accompanies her singing with 4 iPhones running music apps. More details can be seen here on the Akihabara News site. For now, here are a couple of videos showcasing her talent.

While watching, I also came across this teaser video of her work after being signed… WOW, sounds great!

Flipping through the Internet this evening I came across this cool application / hardware add-on for iTouch / . You can now use it as a Universal Remote control. The folks at Think Flood have come up with this cool product they have named Red Eye. Being somewhat of a gadget nut I love the idea. If you have one already, I’d love to hear your opinions of it.

Don’t ask me how I stumbled on this one but this is cool. The old adage about “if you have to ask then you probably can’t afford it” mind… Robotics have always fascinated me. Aibo, Asimo, QRIO etc. What do you think of NAO? I wouldn’t mind being a beta tester for NAO. Looks fun!

Its been a while since I’ve seen a cute short like this. Enjoy!

A rough translation, she asks the boy to go out with her… his response is “Sorry, but I want to focus on baseball.” After falling seemingly forever, she literally runs into him again.  She asks for him to marry her, but again he responds with “Sorry! I really just want to focus on baseball.”

The site has a number of stills as well as concept art used in creating the short. What did you think? Do you have a favorite?
