Japan Hit By Another Earthquake
Japan was hit with another earthquake today. At about 14:37 UTC. The image below is a link to the Japan Meteorological Agency page. (Will replace later with local image)
NHK World has English news casts here: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/r/movie/
Keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Consider donating to the Red Cross or other aid agency if you haven’t already.
While Japan Recovers, People Show Their Best
With this mornings news of an Earthquake happening just off the shore of Japan I am sure the world is reaching out to help in any way they can. I first heard this breaking news as I got up to get ready for work. The news at the time was reporting on an impending Tsunami for Hawaii and later the West cost of the US. My first thoughts were of Japan and those in surrounding areas. (more…)
K-On! News
Some really exciting news is out if you are a K-On fan. First, there are a couple of new collectibles up for reservation now. A cute set of the girls in the costumes they wore to recruit new members. The are by Wave, makers of the swimsuit diva series, and the entire set retails for around ¥6,090.

K-On! Gang in Costume
Another figure recently released for reservation is Alters version of Ritsu completely with drum set. This is an awesome looking figure and as you would suspect, just a touch pricey at around ¥10,290 or so retail. It’s a chunk of change to put toasted a figure but considering how detailed this figure is and what it might cost after reservations are closed.

K-On! Ritsu by Alter
As I was putting this post together, I came across another figure worth mentioning. Ui, Yui’s sister has been rendered in Nendo form and is also up for reservation… She can be found at Hobby Search and retails for around ¥3,500.
I have added Ritsu and Ui to my list and since both of these figures are due in February, I think I can set some aside for their purchase.
Lastly, a K-On film has been announced at the end of episode 25 as being green lighted. I’m excited and looking forward to the movie. I wonder what they will cover. College life perhaps? Pieces of high school life we were not shown?
At any rate, I thought it awesome to come across these items.
Funimation joins U-verse Channel Line Up
Exciting news for fellow Otaku that have U-Verse as their television provider. Funimation Channel has finally been added for our viewing enjoyment. On channel 1484 you should find Funimation streaming it’s animation goodness into your homes. I’ve already scheduled a number of shows to record and view on my leisure.
This is the HD channel for Funimation so the picture is pretty good. So far on the show list that I recall is Baccano, Claymore, Soul Eater, Samurai 7, and few others. I’m looking forward to catching up on a few series here that I have not seen. If I like them, I’m likely to buy the DVD sets.
So far it appears they are airing the English dub versions of shows here. I caught a glimpse of Ouran Host Club this morning in English. Caught me off guard but I’ll have to watch more to tell if I’ll watch the Japanese dub when I get the DVDs.
Do you have access to the Funimation channel? Do you enjoy it’s programming?
For the sports fan in you… ESPN 3D TV Channel
ESPN introduces 3D TV channel just in time for the World Cup. Me, I’m not much of a sports fan so I’m not in a rush. With the new 3D TV’s coming out, I wonder just what the Anime companies are going to do. I believe that we see more computer generated programming coming out in the next few years… What do you think? Here is the WSJ report on the new channel…

South Korea started to watch cable TV on Internet with “Tving”
Akihabara News posted an article how South Koreans are able to watch a number of live cable channels over their PC utilizing the internet. This new service will cost roughly $3 per month and offers 53 channels. Sounds pretty cool to me. I subscribe to U-Verse currently and my dream is that one day they will open remote access to the home DVR via PC.
