To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Anime’s Promo Video Streamed

Another new series for Fall that I think I’ll be keeping my eye out for…

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun is a spinoff from Kazuma Kamachi’s To Aru Majutsu no Index (A Certain Magical Index) light novels that are set in Academy City, a city where about 80% of its 230,000 citizens are students. The spinoff deals with the adventures of Mikoto Misaka, one of the Level 5 psychics in the original light novels.

I am a fan of period pieces when they are done well / in a believable manner of story telling. Watching this promo I think that this will be one I can appreciate.

Ishio Yamagata’s original light novels center around Hamutz, the world’s most powerful armed librarian who is in charge of the books that store the dead at Bantorra Library.

Animation is be performed by David Production while script supervision is being done by Mari Okada (Kuroshitsuji, CANAAN). This anime is set to premier in Japan on October 2nd.

After reading an article about Itasha cars at Comiket, I looked a little further and found this video. Some of these are pretty slick. I’m thinking maybe I should start a trend here in the states…

Gotta say, despite the large crowds of people at the Comiket convention, I’m still envious. I would love to attend some time just to say I did… That and to spend silly amounts of money I don’t really have… But I digress…

From the Akibahobby website here are a few snapshots of upcoming figurines. To save space, I chose a select few… If you want to see more, head on over the their website.

Baka to Test to Shōkanjū Anime Promo Streamed

Here’s an anime that looks like it might be fun to watch. “Baka to Test to Shōkanjū Anime Promo Streamed”.

This anime is being produced by the Japanese production company Media Factory has begun streaming a two-minute promotional video for the anime depiction of Kenji Inoue’s Baka to Test to Shōkanjū (The Idiot, the Tests, and Summoned Creatures). I wonder if there will be some deja-vu moments in there for me…

The story centers around Akihisa Yoshii, the “baka” of the title. His academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies are in the A class with reclining seats complete with air conditioning, but Akihisa is in F class, the lowest rung of the school ladder which is furnished only with low, decrepit tables and worn-out straw tatami mats.

Sony Looks to be more compatible

Sony is adopting industry standards for e-books. This is cool, now you can read your Manga over your i-phone or laptop, perhaps.

Sony, in a challenge to Amazon’s Kindle, unveiled plans on Thursday to do away with the proprietary software on its electronic Sony Reader and convert its e-book store to an industry standard format. Sony said the move “allows it to make its e-book store compatible with multiple devices and its Reader devices open to multiple sources for content.”

I think this will be pretty cool once it is in place. I believe that Sony has some Manga title already on their e-books selection.

I was bored the other night so I thought I would look at the website of Fathom Events to see if they had anything special coming up in theaters… I had missed Death Note the live action version so I was hoping to get lucky. Well, I did! Little did I know but there is Eureka Seven – good night, sleep tight, young lovers coming to theaters for 1 night.

I’m so excited, like a kid at Christmas… Eureka Seven is one of the 1st anime series I watched in its entirety and enjoyed. The bummer part is it is only for one night here in the states. I’d love to hear what others thought of the movie as I see it has been shown elsewhere already. I hope there is a good turn out here… Perhaps that will encourage more events like this.

I was looking around the Internet tonight just searching for a few random things at some of my favorite haunts and came across this familiar face from Spice and Wolf… Maybe one day this figurine will become available again since Funimation licensed the series…

I found Holo at Hobby Search.
